Children's Yoga and Arts Camp
200 Hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training
next starting date September 2010
 
The Teacher Training program will prepare students to teach beginning and intermediate level Hatha Yoga classes. However, becoming a teacher is only one of the many benefits of the program. It can also be a wonderful, enriching experience for anyone interested in deepening their practice and understanding of yoga. This program is registered with The Yoga Alliance and meets or exceeds their requirements for training at the 200 hour level. Upon completion, participants will rececive Yoga Teacher Certification from The Avalon Yoga Studio and be eligible to apply for the 200 hour registration (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance.
 
 
 

The Program offers comprehensive training in all aspects of yoga including:
Yoga Philosphy and Psychology
Asanas: practice, teaching and adjustments
Anatomy and Physiology
Meditation: theory and practice
Pranayama: practice and teaching
Relaxation Techniques
Study of the Yoga Sutras
Study of the Bhagavad Gita
Teaching Methods: including class structure and sequencing
Teaching Practice and Experience
 
Program format and requirements: 
One weekend per month (additional dates/times to be scheduled for completion of practicum hours) Scroll to bottom of page for scheduled dates.
Friday        6:00pm - 9:00pm
Saturdays  9:30am - 3:50pm
Sundays    12:00pm - 5:20pm
 
Additional requirements: 
Students are required to attend and participate fully in all scheduled training sessions.
One weekly yoga class with Leslie.
Attend 6 outside yoga classes, any level, and submit an observation summary.
Independent study project involving volunteer service or exploration of a particular area of interest through study or practice.

Eligibility:
Applicants should have at least two years of prior experience in hatha yoga, a regular home practice and a commitment to deepening their knowledge and understanding in preparation for teaching yoga.
 

Costs:

Application fee/deposit: $200

Tuition: $2,800 (includes above deposit)

Payment Options: Payment in full is due two weeks prior to the start of the program. Payment plans are available. Contact studio to discuss options.

Refund Policy:

 $200 application fee is nonrefundable (unless admission is denied). Refund in full (less $300 processing fee) available until Sunday evening of the first program weekend. After that time, refunds will only be considered in the event of medical or other emergency.

Support Staff:
Sandra Anderson E RYT 500 is a board member of the Himalayan Institute Teachers Association and instructor for their 200 and 500 hour teacher trainings. She is a contributing editor for Yoga+ magazine, and the co-author of Yoga: Mastering the Basics and the creator of  two asana videos. Sandy serves as advisor and support for the program.
Avalon Yoga Staff: Other members of The Avalon Yoga Teaching staff will contribute to the training program. Their wide ranging backgrounds will expose students to a variety of styles of practice and instruction.
