2011 Children's Yoga and Arts Camp
July 11-15: 5 - 8 year olds
August 8-12: 7 - 9 year olds
This exciting one week yoga
and arts camp offers your child a unique opportunity to explore, create and have fun! Children will enjoy a nurturing, supportive
and non-competitive environment in which to explore. They will stretch and energize their bodies, explore creative expression
through a variety of art materials, learn mindfulness, self calming and relaxation techniques and make new friends. Concepts
that will be woven throughout the program are community, balance and harmony.

Yoga
Each day your child will experience the benefits of yoga through games and activities. Children will
explore yoga postures to help them feel grounded, find their balance and begin exploring their own creativity. Through the
use of movement and breath awareness, they will increase their self-awareness and self confidence.

Art
Children will explore
drawing, painting and sculpture through a variety of art materials. The art work will have a particular emphasis on the connection
with yoga practice, helping students to understand postures by creating them visually through art as well as with their bodies.

Our Staff
Sara Murphy has studied yoga at The Avalon for the past 7 years and found that yoga
has had a tremendous impact on her life and world view. She completed the Avalon Yoga Studio’s 200hr Teacher Training
Certification program in 2010 and currently teaches classes for the studio. She holds a B.S. in Sculpture from Towson University
and a M.Ed. from University of Maryland. Sara has taught art in Baltimore County
Public Schools for the past 8 years and currently teaches at Halethorpe Elementary School. She
is particularly interested in combining yoga practice with creating art.
Missy Wheeler has been practicing yoga for several years. She has taught Prekindergarten
and Kindergarten children in the classroom for over 20 years. Missy has been using yoga concepts and techniques in her classroom
and recently trained through Radiant Child to teach yoga to children. She will complete the Avalon 200 hour Yoga
Teacher Training in July 2011. Missy is excited to bring fun as well as a sense of calm and peacefulness to children
as they explore yoga.
Fees and Registration Information
Each week is limited to 10 children. We encourage you to register your child early!

9:00-12:00
Fees:
$150 for the week plus a $30 art materials fee
Registration: Fill

fill out a form for camp registration even if you have previously completed one for classes. Send or bring completed form
with payment to the studio. Payment may be made by cash or check in the studio. You may use a credit card through PayPal on our Registration Page. |
